Have your say on the Eurobodalla Draft Climate Action Plan

Right now we have the chance to help build the best plan possible for Climate Action for our Eurobodalla community. Your comments and submissions can strengthen the formation of the final plan that will guide council staff and elected representatives through the next 10 years of decision making.

The ESC Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) is currently on public exhibition, with submissions closing on Friday 8th April at 4:30pm.

Don't hold back - communities on this beautiful Nature Coast can be leaders on meaningful climate action and mitigating the risks of climate change.

We know first-hand that we bear the full brunt of climate change with each natural disaster that we face. To protect our communities we must address the root cause of climate change by rapidly cutting our emissions this decade.

You're invited to join Eurobodalla Greens members in an online workshop to help you prepare your submission. Find details below.

Have a look at the Targets, Actions and Objectives of the draft plan... are they ambitious enough?

Could Eurobodalla Shire Council be aiming higher when it comes to partnering with our community for better climate outcomes?

Does the draft plan do enough to "prepare for future impacts of climate change to ensure Council and the community adapt, mitigate, and increase climate resilience?"

The draft CAP is available to download here.

A brief overview is available in this 13 page document.

How to submit:

Written submissions can be a few sentences or a longer explanation, as long as you tell us what you think. Make sure you include the name of the item, and send it to us by the closing date:

  • email: council@esc.nsw.gov.au

  • post: Eurobodalla Shire Council, PO Box 99, Moruya NSW 2537

  • online: via our online feedback form

Feel free to send your submission directly to Councillors too! Their contact details can be found here.

(But always make sure your submission is also sent to council@esc.nsw.gov.au so that it will be on council records.

Online workshop:

Join with others and get support with writing your submission by coming along to a 1 hour session on Zoom this week.

We'll share points you might like to include in your submission and be there to answer your questions so you can have a submission ready to send to council this week.

It's important that council sees plenty of personalised submissions detailing YOUR concerns about climate change and how we should be responding.

To register for a workshop just send an email to eurobodallagreens@yahoo.com.au and let us know which session you'd like to attend. We'll get back to you with a guide to starting your submission and a link to the Zoom session.

Share widely and invite friends and family to join in too!

Workshops available:

Sunday 3rd April 3:30-4:30pm

Tuesday 5th April 7:00-8:00pm

Join us if you can, but do make sure you make your contribution to the plan by making a submission by Friday 8th April.
