Your vote for a Greens councillor in 2024 is a vote for us all to be Healthy, Happy and Housed in Eurobodalla. These ideas are connected, it’s easier to be healthy and happy if you are securely and affordably housed. A beautiful environment supports health and happiness.
Healthy
- Eurobodalla must take necessary actions to minimise harm from the ongoing effects of climate change. Council has a Climate Action Plan – we will ensure it is implemented.
- We support a Level 4 hospital in Moruya. Council must keep a watching brief on the process and on usage of the Batemans Bay Urgent Care Clinic and Emergency facilities.
- We aim to improve access to health services including aged and disability service and we will work to tackle domestic and family violence.
Happy
- We will protect the natural beauty and biodiversity of our shire which contributes to the health and happiness of all our residents.
- We will advocate to State and Federal governments for improved mental health care.
- We will work to improve the quality of life for all residents and further develop an active vibrant community.
- Post referendum truth telling is necessary for all our health and happiness.
Housed
- We need affordable, sustainable, environmentally friendly housing. Prioritising urban infill uses existing infrastructure and minimises greenfield land releases.
- We will ensure implementation of recommendations from the Eurobodalla Housing Strategy 2024-2041
- We will move to implement a Eurobodalla Affordable Housing Strategy.
- We will work with State and Federal Governments and local organisations to end local homelessness and deal with its causes: poverty, domestic violence and Health issues.
Economy
- We support the growth of Nature-based tourism, including accommodation and our Mountain Bike Trail networks
- We support growing local First Nations businesses and applaud their generosity in sharing their knowledge and wisdom with locals and visitors.
- We support environmentally improved and safe access to beaches and rivers.
Marine
We will continue to advocate for the removal of the fishing amnesty in all sanctuary zones within the Batemans Marine Park for the benefit of all marine species and overall health of the marine environment.
